Playgroup Playscore

Playscore is a points-based scoring system for MTG Commander leagues. Earn points for good plays, lose them for unfun strategies, and climb a leaderboard that rewards how you play.

Reward good play

Earn points for eliminating opponents, drawing first blood, and helping another player survive. Good Commander gets recognized.

Price the unfun stuff

Lose points for infinite combos, excessive tutoring, mass land destruction, and 10-minute turns. Win how you like, it just counts.

Mostly tracks itself

Most actions are detected automatically from your game data. A few quick counters handle the rest.

The System

What is Playscore?

Playscore is an alternative scoring system for Commander leagues. Instead of ranking players purely by wins, it awards and deducts points based on in-game actions, painting a more nuanced picture of how someone actually plays.

The penalties are not about banning strategies, they are about pricing them. An infinite combo or a 15-minute turn can still win you the game, but Playscore reflects the cost it puts on everyone else's fun. The result is a leaderboard that rewards players who win in ways the table actually enjoyed.

Playscore FAQ

Is Playscore free?
Yes. Playscore is free. Every playgroup gets one free league, and it can be a Playscore league. Running more than one league at a time is a Premium feature, but Playscore scoring itself is never gated.
Do I need a league to use Playscore?
Yes. Playscore runs inside a Playgroup.gg league. Create a league, enable Playscore, and the leaderboard scores every game by points instead of by wins.
Is Playscore tracked automatically?
Most of it. Kills, deaths, game wins, first blood, first to deal damage, and long turns (10+ minutes) are tracked automatically from your game data. Tutoring, going infinite, extra turns, mass resource denial, and saving another player use quick manual counters.
Can I change the point values?
Yes. The default template is a starting point. Create a custom scoring template to match your playgroup's house rules and philosophy.
How is Playscore different from ELO?
ELO ranks players purely on who wins. Playscore rewards how you play, adding points for good plays and deducting them for unfun strategies, on its own leaderboard separate from ELO.
