What does the virtual tabletop support?

Drag cards between every zone you expect. Tap, flip, transform, attach, counter, token, and target. Clean animations and a layout that keeps the board readable even when it gets busy.

Dice and fair randomness

Roll d4 through d20 on a real 3D dice tray, flip coins, and trust the results. Random outcomes are resolved on the server, so nobody can reroll behind the scenes.

Event log for every play

Every action lands in the event log with card name previews on hover. Great for catching that one trigger you missed and for settling arguments cleanly.

Schedule games in advance

Book a session days ahead. Set a time, let players sign up, and the lobby opens automatically when it's time to play. Works for private playgroup nights and public pickup games.

Solo playtesting

Test a new brew before you bring it to the table. The full game engine runs solo: draw, mulligan, goldfish your turns, and undo freely.

Host controls

Bracket and power level

Set a bracket tier when you create a lobby. Exhibition, Core, Upgraded, Optimized, or cEDH. The deck picker filters to match, so everyone shows up with the right power level.

Which decks can I import?

Import from Archidekt or Moxfield and your decks are ready to play. Primers expand inline on the lobby card so the rest of the table can read what you are bringing. If you just want to paste in a decklist that's always an option as well.

Know which cards are pulling their weight

Card Insights tracks every card you draw, cast, and win with across real games, then tells you what to cut and what to keep. The more you play, the sharper the recommendations get.

Dead draw detection Cards you draw but rarely cast. If a card sits in your hand across multiple games, the data shows it.

Is Playgroup Live free?
Yes. Playgroup Live is free to play. You need a Playgroup.gg account, which is also free.
How many players can play at once?
Between 2 and 6. Playgroup Live supports duel Commander, standard 4-player pods, and larger tables up to 6 seats.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Playgroup Live runs in any modern desktop browser. Open the lobby link and you are in.
Which decks can I import?
Any deck. Paste a plain-text decklist, or import directly from an Archidekt or Moxfield URL. You are not required to keep your deck on a third-party site.
Can I play with strangers or only with my playgroup?
Both. Open a private lobby and share the link with your playgroup, or make the lobby public so anyone looking for a game can join.
Does every game count toward my stats?
Yes. Games finished on Playgroup Live flow into the same ELO, per-deck stats, and Playscore leagues as games tracked with the Playgroup.gg mobile app.
Can I schedule a game for later?
Yes. Pick a date and time up to seven days out. Other players can sign up ahead of time, and the lobby opens automatically at the scheduled time. You can schedule private playgroup sessions or public games that anyone can join.
Can I practice a deck by myself?
Yes. Start a solo session to goldfish a deck with the full game engine. You get draw phases, mulligans, undo, and the event log. No opponents needed.
Can I make a private game or does everyone join?
You choose. Keep the lobby private and share the link with your group, or toggle it to public so anyone browsing can join. This applies to both instant and scheduled games.
How does Playgroup Live compare to SpellTable?
Playgroup Live is a full virtual tabletop: you move cards between zones, the server enforces Commander rules, and hidden zones stay hidden. SpellTable is webcam-based, so you play with physical cards on camera. Different tools for different tables.
