What bracket is my Commander deck?

Paste your list above and this calculator estimates its official Commander bracket (1 to 5) from the cards it contains. It reads the signals Wizards of the Coast uses to define brackets: the number of Game Changers, any cards banned in Commander, mass land denial, extra-turn chains, and two-card combos (using Commander Spellbook's full combo database). It maps those to a bracket, then shows the evidence so you can see exactly why.

One honest limit: no tool can read a deck's Bracket 5 (cEDH) intent from a list alone, because cEDH is about tournament tuning and a competitive metagame, not just card choices. So this calculator tops out its automatic reading at Bracket 4 and tells you when a deck could be pushed to cEDH.

The five Commander brackets

1
Exhibition

Ultra-casual. No Game Changers, no combos.

2
Core

Average precon power. No Game Changers.

3
Upgraded

Upgraded. Up to three Game Changers, no early combos.

4
Optimized

Optimized. No restrictions, high power.

5
cEDH

cEDH. Tournament-tuned for a competitive meta.

Bracket Calculator FAQ

What bracket is my Commander deck?
Paste your decklist above and this tool estimates its official bracket (1 to 5) from the cards it contains. It flags Game Changers, banned cards, and two-card combos, then maps them to a bracket using Wizards of the Coast's published bracket criteria and Commander Spellbook's combo database.
What are the Commander brackets?
The official Commander bracket system has five tiers. Bracket 1 (Exhibition) is ultra-casual, Bracket 2 (Core) is an average precon-level deck, Bracket 3 (Upgraded) allows a few Game Changers, Bracket 4 (Optimized) has no restrictions, and Bracket 5 (cEDH) is tournament-tuned. Higher brackets allow more Game Changers, faster combos, mass land denial, and extra-turn chains.
How accurate is the bracket calculator?
The estimate reads real signals from your list: Game Changer count, banned cards, mass land denial, extra-turn chains, and Commander Spellbook's full two-card combo database. It cannot read intent or your local metagame, so it never claims Bracket 5 (cEDH) on its own. A deck it rates Bracket 4 may be cEDH depending on tuning and meta.
Does it detect combos?
Yes. It uses Commander Spellbook's combo database, so it catches two-card and turn-chaining combos that simpler counters miss. Matched combos are listed as evidence, tagged for locks, skipped turns, mass land denial, and extra turns.
What is a Game Changer?
Game Changers are the cards Wizards of the Coast flags as the most powerful in Commander. Running them pushes a deck into a higher bracket: Brackets 1 and 2 expect none, Bracket 3 allows up to three, and Brackets 4 and 5 have no limit. See our Game Changers list for the full set.
Is the bracket calculator free?
Yes, it is completely free with no account required. Paste a decklist and get an instant estimate.
