Playgroup.gg is operated by Arcane Digital B.V., registered in the Netherlands. This page explains our relationship with Wizards of the Coast and how intellectual property is handled on the platform.

Playgroup is unofficial Fan Content permitted under the Wizards of the Coast Fan Content Policy. It is not approved or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast.

What Playgroup is
Playgroup.gg is a community tool for tracking and playing Magic: The Gathering Commander games. It is not a replacement for official Wizards of the Coast products. We do not distribute card images, game rules engines, or digital versions of Magic: The Gathering cards.
- Game tracking, statistics, and leaderboards for Commander playgroups
- A browser-based virtual tabletop (Playgroup Live) for playing Commander online
- A life counter mobile app for in-person games
- League and tournament management tools
Card data and images
Card data and images displayed on Playgroup.gg are sourced from the Scryfall API, which provides this data under its own terms. Scryfall is not affiliated with Playgroup.gg. Card images remain the property of Wizards of the Coast.
Monetization
Playgroup.gg offers optional supporter subscriptions that fund platform development and hosting costs. Supporter perks are cosmetic and functional enhancements to the platform itself, such as ad-free browsing, interface themes, visual effects, and additional league features. No Wizards of the Coast intellectual property is sold, gated behind payment, or redistributed for profit.
User-generated content and data
Aggregated, anonymized game statistics and metagame data produced by Playgroup.gg (such as commander popularity rankings and win rates) are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. This applies only to the statistical data we generate, not to any Wizards of the Coast materials.
Governing law
Arcane Digital B.V. is subject to the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes arising from the use of Playgroup.gg shall be governed by Dutch law.
