Playgroup.gg at Magiccon Amsterdam

When we at Playgroup.gg heard that MagicCon 2024 would be held in Amsterdam, it felt like the stars had aligned. With Amsterdam being our hometown and two of our team members calling it home, we knew we couldn't miss this opportunity.

To cut it short, exhibiting playgroup.gg at MagicCon was an unforgettable experience. For three days, we were immersed in a whirlwind of excitement and countless games. Meeting our vibrant community and showcasing our app made every moment worthwhile, and we're thrilled to share some highlights with you.

We set up an exhibitor booth that quickly became a buzzing hub of activity. Meeting our existing users face-to-face was like reuniting with old friends. We loved hearing their feedback – the good, the great, and yes, even the constructive criticism. It's your insights that help us grow and make Playgroup.gg even better.

We had our fair share of fun, too! Between demos and discussions, we sneaked in some gameplay and had a blast.

The TV in the photo mirrored the activity on the tracker app running on the tablet that lay on the table. At that moment, it displayed the starting screen where everyone was selecting their decks. This screen also showed the win probability for each chosen deck, allowing us to gauge if the current matchup was balanced or if there was a dominant "raid boss" at the table. In this case, all win chances were around 25%, indicating a fair match.

I played my Rivaz of the Claw deck, which I thought was pretty strong, but it didn't quite perform as expected. I managed to drop a Scourge of the Throne on turn 5, only to have it immediately stolen by an opponent running an Izzet Pirates deck with Breeches, Brazen Plunderer, and Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator at the helm. To make matters worse, this blatant theft was paired with a Port Razer, granting two extra combat steps.

From there, the stats summary tells the whole story. We got smashed by an army of pirates after about 35 minutes in the 7th round. Despite the defeat, it was great fun, and the stats prove it with all the happy emojis!

To wrap up we just want to give a massive thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. Your enthusiasm, kindness, and passion for Commander and playgroup.gg made these three intense days totally worth it. We can't wait to incorporate your feedback and continue to support this amazing community.
