Mystery Booster: Commander Edition

Mystery Booster: Commander Edition releases on October 1, 2026. Announced as a surprise late addition to the 2026 calendar at MagicCon Amsterdam, it is a Commander Draft product rather than a normal expansion: 20-card boosters built for drafting Commander decks, with no preconstructed decks in the lineup. The set had its first public outing at Gen Con Indianapolis (July 30 to August 2, 2026), and spoilers from those early drafts are still rolling in.

The set contains 59 new mechanically unique cards alongside a pile of legendary reprints, with a heavy focus on legendary creatures. The headline mechanic is Rulebreaker, a designation on eight commanders designed together with the Commander Format Panel. Each Rulebreaker bends one specific deckbuilding rule; Tolabow, Loch Rascal, for example, lets its deck run instants and sorceries of one color outside its color identity. The set also brings select Alchemy designs to paper for the first time. The new cards carry no acorn stamp and are fully legal in Commander and other eternal formats.

Where to Get Mystery Booster Commander Edition

This is a convention-first product, not a normal store release. It debuted at Gen Con 2026 and is expected to be available at MagicCon events, with broad availability anticipated at MagicCon: Atlanta on November 13, 2026, plus a Festival in a Box option through Secret Lair. Wizards has not announced a WPN game store or mass retail release, so supply outside conventions may stay tight.
