Nauctis: The Sunken Realm

Nauctis: The Sunken Realm releases on February 5, 2027 as the first Magic set on a fully underwater plane. Wizards announced it at MagicCon Amsterdam in July 2026 under the tagline "Magic Runs Deep", describing a journey that starts in calm waters and gets more dangerous the deeper it goes.

Wizards has revealed what goes in Nauctis booster packs (see below). Mechanics, characters, and Commander products have not been revealed yet. What we know about Nauctis so far

Wizards describes Nauctis as an endless ocean with vast cities beneath the waves and gods that command the currents while swimming alongside their followers. The announcement names merfolk, seals, homarids, and humans among its peoples, with tensions between warring kingdoms driving the story. The product page calls it an invitation to explore Magic beneath the waves, where the journey begins in calm waters and more magic, and more danger, waits the deeper you venture.

Nauctis booster packs and god packs

Nauctis is the first set with the booster changes Wizards announced on October 5, 2026. They cover Magic Multiverse sets, with Universes Beyond sets expected to follow in 2028. Play Boosters are now called Booster Packs. Booster Packs drop foil commons and uncommons, raise the rate of foil rares and mythics, and no longer guarantee a foil. Traditional foil Japan Showcase cards, previously Collector Booster only, can appear in the Booster Pack wildcard slot. Collector Boosters lose two foil commons and one foil uncommon. Wizards says prices do not change.

Both boosters get god packs. 1 in 1,000 Booster Packs holds 14 rares and mythics plus a celebration card. 1 in 300 Collector Boosters holds 11 rares and mythics (5 of them foil Booster Fun cards), a foil land, and a celebration card. The announcement does not cover Commander decks or Set Boosters.

Nauctis: The Sunken Realm in the 2027 MTG release schedule

Wizards has announced three Magic Multiverse sets for 2027: Nauctis: The Sunken Realm (February 5), Kamigawa: Titanbreach (June 4), and Zhalfir (October 1). Three Universes Beyond sets alternate with them across the year, none named or dated yet. The full MTG release schedule tracks every set as dates are confirmed.
