Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY launched on June 13, 2025 as the largest Universes Beyond crossover yet. Four Commander precons shipped alongside the main set, each themed around a different mainline FINAL FANTASY game and led by a face commander pulled straight from the source material.

The decks are designed for table presence. Revival Trance lifts a FF6 cast back from the grave, Limit Break swings hard with FF7's iconic SOLDIER, Counter Blitz proliferates through FF10's Spira, and Scions & Spellcraft channels FF14's Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Every face commander is deep-linked into Playgroup's stats pages, and every precon has a one-click Playtest in Playgroup Live button.

Set codes on Scryfall: FIN (main set) and FIC (Commander precons).

Frequently Asked
When did Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy release?
Final Fantasy released worldwide on June 13, 2025. The set codes are FIN for the main set and FIC for the four Commander precon decks.
What are the 4 Final Fantasy Commander precons?
Revival Trance (Mardu) led by Terra, Herald of Hope is themed on FF6. Limit Break (Naya) led by Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER is themed on FF7. Counter Blitz (Bant) led by Tidus, Yuna's Guardian is themed on FF10. Scions & Spellcraft (Esper) led by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed is themed on FF14.
Which Final Fantasy precon is best for new Commander players?
Limit Break is the most beginner-friendly. Equipment plus go-wide aggression is intuitive, Cloud's combat trigger does most of the math, and you can always understand what's happening on board. Revival Trance is also approachable if you prefer recursion over swarms.
Which precon is the strongest out of the box?
Counter Blitz scales the highest. Proliferate is one of the most powerful evergreen mechanics, +1/+1 counter strategies have a deep card pool to upgrade with, and Tidus turns combat damage from countered creatures into cards plus more proliferate triggers. Scions & Spellcraft is close behind on raw card quality.
Can I playtest the Final Fantasy precons before buying?
Yes. Every precon on this page has a one-click Playtest in Playgroup Live button. Click it, sign in if needed, and you land in a fresh solo game with the Archidekt decklist already imported into your library.
Are the Final Fantasy cards Standard legal?
Cards in the main FIN set are Standard legal under Wizards' Universes Beyond aligned-formats policy. The Commander-only cards in the FIC precon decks are Commander, Legacy, and Vintage legal but not Standard.
