Foundations Commander Decks

There are five Foundations Commander Decks, one per color, and all five released on October 2, 2026: Calling All Angels (white), Keen Engineering (blue), Wretched Ranks (black), Reign of Dragons (red), and Tramplesaurus Rex (green). They are not the Reality Fracture Commander precons and they are not part of the 2024 Foundations core set. They are a separate 2026 starter line that shares the Foundations name and the Reality Fracture release date, and nothing else.

Calling All Angels plays Angels behind Giada, Font of Hope. Keen Engineering builds artifacts and Thopters with Sai, Master Thopterist. Wretched Ranks goes wide on Zombies with Ghoulcaller Gisa. Reign of Dragons ramps into Dragons with Lathliss, Dragon Queen. Tramplesaurus Rex casts oversized creatures with Ghalta, Primal Hunger. Foundations Commander decklists

Every deck is 100 cards with 32 to 34 basic lands, which is where the beginner framing shows most: the mana is nearly free and every deck runs Sol Ring, Arcane Signet and a matching Diamond or Mind Stone for the rest. The reprints are the draw.

• Calling All Angels (32 Plains): Lyra Dawnbringer, Sephara, Sky's Blade, Linvala, the Preserver, Austere Command, Swords to Plowshares, Court of Grace and Vanquisher's Banner behind Giada.
• Keen Engineering (34 Islands): Master Transmuter, Myr Battlesphere, Steel Overseer, Skysovereign, Consul Flagship, Nevinyrral's Disk, Counterspell, Propaganda and All Is Dust as the one board wipe that spares artifacts.
• Wretched Ranks (33 Swamps): Grave Titan, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, God-Eternal Bontu, Death Baron, Cryptbreaker, Phyrexian Arena, Go for the Throat and Castle Locthwain.
• Reign of Dragons (32 Mountains): Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, Scourge of the Throne, Warstorm Surge, Dragon Tempest, Blasphemous Act, Chaos Warp, Lightning Bolt, Haven of the Spirit Dragon and Dragon's Hoard.
• Tramplesaurus Rex (32 Forests): Carnage Tyrant, Elder Gargaroth, Birds of Paradise, Llanowar Elves, Beast Whisperer, Overwhelming Stampede, Rishkar's Expertise, Beast Within and Scavenging Ooze.

Foundations Commander Decks release date

All five decks released together on October 2, 2026, the same global tabletop release date as Reality Fracture, which is why the two products get mixed up. They are sealed preconstructed decks with no prerelease events of their own and no MTG Arena or Magic Online release.

How the Foundations Commander Decks differ from a normal precon

Wizards built the line for players moving into Commander for the first time, so each deck sits closer to the 2022 Starter Commander Decks than to a seasonal precon. The Commander decks that ship with an expansion are two or three colors and carry new cards built for that set's mechanics. These five are single-color, built entirely from reprints, and each one commits to one clear archetype. That makes them cheaper to learn and easier to upgrade one card at a time, at the cost of the raw power a multicolor precon brings out of the box.

Single-color also means the mana base is close to free. A new player is not punished for keeping a hand or missing a land drop the way a three-color deck punishes them, which is the usual reason a first Commander game goes badly.
